MONDAY: January the 1st - on a Monday! Love it when this happens, so neat and orderly.
TUESDAY: Rainy weather sets in, but it's milder.
WEDNESDAY: Finishing the Grand Prix of Laundry - nearly caught up from house guests over the holiday season, plus the mountain of our own clothing which remained unwashed. 'Twas a Merry Smelly Christmas.
THURSDAY: A last-minute visit from one of my oldest and most treasured friends. Nipped over to Aldi for fresh lilies to replace the sagging, shedding Christmas petals (Aldi, when are you going to provide the same for ageing body parts?)
FRIDAY: Trying to get back into a routine of Instagram posting again. I am awful at it, so I visit my favourites who have nailed it: Lisa Congdon, Eva Magill-Olver, Ezer Gündüz, and the wonderful Sabine Timms (virgin_honey), and try and pick up tips from the pros.
SATURDAY: Putting away the Christmas decorations. Tree with a plastic bag on its head, and relishing the last night of fairy lights/decor on the main tree.
SUNDAY: Cold weather returns with a wonderful, bright frosty morning. The shed window grows crystals. Putting away more decorations - goodbye, fabby sparkly things - see you next year!
Honestly I don't like putting away the fairy lights and sparkly things, but even I have to concede the days are too bright already for the Christmas decs. There is only a minute or two difference at either end of the day here in Scotland, but it is significant - probably because the angle of the sun is rising subtly higher every day. Hurray, hurray, hurray, I love the lighter days!
Happy New Year, everyone. X
