Last week heralded in spring with the vernal equinox on Monday, followed by the start of British Summer Time. These celestial events put me in mind of a body of work I made in June 2011 titled Oh! Callipso, in which I set out to take a break from slow work for a week. I worked very quickly using any materials I had to hand, anywhere I was. I thoroughly enjoyed the liberating sensation and produced a lot of work in just a few days. Later, I showed the work at open studios that year, and everyone ignored it! - so I felt it was worthless and hid it all away.
I began to think about Oh! Callipso whilst pondering the mysteries of the springtime tilt of our planet towards the sun in the northern hemisphere; so, I had a revisit and found, to my surprise, that there was a lot there I still find really interesting today. It's nice to see a bit of colour again, and I am loving the freshness. Perhaps it's time for me to have another brain-storming session for a week and see what comes of it.
Thanks for visiting, see you next week!
